Practical information
Facility and Rules on Campus
- At semester start student buddy will help you getting your student card. This functions as ID card at campus, a copy card, as well as access to campus doors when entering the building outside of opening hours. Make sure to tell facility service if you lose it so that they can block the card.

- The canteen do not accept cash. Therefore, make sure to bring a credit card or bring lunch yourself.
- Free Wifi: Absalon GuestNet
- Library at the first floor, on the right side from the main stairs. You are also allowed to use the library at RUC, just down the street.
- When leaving the classroom after completed lectures, the room must be left in an orderly state and no crockery or cutlery must be left in the classroom. They are to be taken back to the canteen.
- Smoking is not allowed indoor please follow the signs for smoking areas.

Transport
Trains leave for Copehagen frequently at Trekroner and in Roskilde. For information about prices etc., visit the Danish Railway website www.dsb.dk. Student buddy will help you with acquiring a travel card ‘Rejsekort’. In order to find the best options for a trip, go to www.rejseplanen.dk or use the app ‘Rejseplanen’.
Shops and Banks
The cheapest supermarkets are: Netto, Fakta, Aldi and Lidl
The more expensive supermarkets include Føtex, Kvickly, SuperBest, Meny, Irma, SuperBrugsen
Opening hours for most supermarkets are 8.00-22.00, 7 days a week, except some holidays.
There are a few shops in Trekroner, next to the station. In Roskilde, you can find most other kind of shops you might need. Opening hours Monday-Friday from 10.00- 17.30/18.00, Saturdays till 15.00. 1st Sunday every month from 11.00-15.00, Other Sundays they will be closed.
There are a number of petrol stations that sell a few grocery items – petrol stations are open every day till around 21.00-22.00
Banks: Banks are open Monday to Friday 10-16 and till 17.00 on Thursdays. The banks have 24 hr. cash points. There are a number of banks in Roskilde. Generally you can pay everywhere by card.
Medicine and Health

Pharmacy: There is a pharmacy (Apotek) in Trekroner by the station, called Trekroner Løve Apotek.
Some none-prescription medicine is available in supermarkets and 7-eleven.
Roskilde

- Roskilde library is situated at Dronning Margrethes Vej 14, near the walking street and station.
- There are many sporting facilities in Roskilde including a swimming center situated: Bymarken 37.
- RUC has a sports club called RUC sport that offers different kind of group sports. See more and apply for membership: www.facebook.com/groups/RUCSPORT/
- The local music-venue and culture house in Roskilde, is called Gimle and located at Helligkorsvej 2. In addition to the larger concerts that require a ticket, they have a café that is run by International Volunteers. A good place to socialize and meet other internationals, volunteering or just enjoying a free concert and a cheap meal. www.gimle.dk/
- Trekroner offers a few pizza-bars, a couple of cafés, sushi and icecream bars. In Roskilde you can find various bars, cafes and restaurants in and around the city center. Most places have vegetarian options. For take out, you can find most places at Just-eat. www.just-eat.dk
Other activities
- The cathedral (Roskilde Domkirke), is on UNESCOs World Heritage List, it’s a beautiful site, worth a visit. You can get a student’s discount if you bring your student-ID. www.roskildedomkirke.dk/english
- Musicon is the new district of Roskilde, offering an inside and outside skating area, a micro brewery, a rock music museum, a workshop with 3D-printers and laser-cutters and various of small festivals and activities. musicon.dk/eng
- The Viking ship museum (Vikingeskibsmuset) is located by the harbour. Here you can see some real Viking ships, and an exhibition about the ships. It is free to walk around most of the outside area, where you can see the re-build versions of the ships. www.vikingeskibsmuseet.dk/en
