Residence Permit and Visa
Nordic Students
(Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Finland)
There are no regulations for students from the Nordic countries. You can study and work in Denmark without any type of permits.
EU/EEA Students
Can study and work in Denmark without a residence permit. If you are staying in Denmark for more than three months, you need a Danish ID number and card (CPR) and a registration certificate. A student buddy at University College Absalon will help you with this.
- Danish ID number and card: You should apply for this at Borgerservice no later than 5 days after your arrival to Denmark. You can read more about the rules here.
- Registration certificate: you should apply for this at Statsforvaltningen before the end of your first 3 months in Denmark. You can read more about the rules here.
Non-EU/EEA students
If you are a non-EU/EEA student, you need a residence permit or visa for your stay in Denmark.
The specific type of permit or visa depends on your country of origin and purpose in Denmark; studies, internship, clinical/practical placement etc. You can read more about the rules and regulations at www.newtodenmark.dk
Once you have been accepted to University College Absalon, we will initiate the application procedure for a permit or visa, and you will receive an e-mail with instructions for the further process.
It is essential that you move forward with your application for a residence permit or visa in Denmark as quickly as possible, as the Danish Immigration service may take several months to process your application.
