The structure of teacher education (LU23)

The teacher education is made up of basic skills, teaching subjects, practical training, compulsory courses and a bachelor's degree in teaching.

You must have three teaching subjects, one of which must be English. You must also have two teaching subjects, which you choose from among the other subjects. Some subjects are offered in Danish and are completed together with Danish students.

A teaching subject on the teacher training course qualifies you to teach the same subject at school. You therefore become an expert in teaching in precisely the subjects you choose.

The international teacher training is a profile which is specially organized as a talent course, cf. the talent executive order and is characterized by the following:

• Special admission requirement (in addition to the entry requirement for the teacher training course)

• Extra study activity in ECTS in addition to the teacher education norm (240 ECTS points)

• Compulsory attendance in selected elements and courses (see website)

During your studies at the International Honours Degree it is mandatory to take part of the education abroad. You can choose either

· one semester abroad at a foreign University

or:

· have a teaching experience period at a school abroad (local or International) at primary or lower secondary level

Mandatory courses (LU23)

In addition to the subjects prescribed by executive order, the students on the teacher training course at Absalon University of Applied Sciences must have two compulsory courses: A course in rhetoric and the compulsory practical and musical weekly course.

Bachelor project (LU23)

The bachelor's project must be based on a teaching problem related to one of your teaching subjects and be prepared with the inclusion of relevant teaching theory and results from research and development projects and research-based literature.

Guidance specifically targeted at the professional bachelor's project is offered in the 7th and 8th semesters. The guidance includes scientific theory, scientific method, professional and pedagogical guidance. As a student, you get the opportunity to draw on the institution's ongoing research and innovation projects.

During the 7th semester, you indicate your preliminary problem that you wish to investigate in the professional bachelor's project.

Based on this problem statement, you will be assigned a supervisor. In the 8th semester, you work independently or in a group to complete the professional bachelor's project under guidance.
