Proposal for Reform of the Professional Bachelor Programs – What Does It Mean for You as a Student
With the political agreement the government and coalition parties are investing nearly DKK 2 billion in more teaching, guidance, feedback, and improved internships for key programmes such as nursing, social work, and teaching. At the same time, students are gaining new opportunities for lifelong learning and career shifts across professional fields.
We welcome the reform
The new reform strengthens higher education by offering more teaching hours, better guidance and feedback, and closer connections to practice. This political agreement ensures higher educational quality, better preparing students for the important professions we educate for.
What does the reform mean for you as a current student?
If you're already studying at Absalon, the reform will not affect your current programme. Your education will continue as planned. Over time, the reform will lead to more teaching hours, additional guidance, and stronger links to practice.
In fact, many of the initiatives the reform introduces—such as increased use of practical training and simulation—are already part of the curriculum at University College of Absalon.
“The reform will not impact your current education at Absalon. Key elements like strong links to practice and more simulation-based teaching are already integrated,” says Camilla Wang, Rector of University College of Absalon.
More opportunities after graduation
Where the reform may affect you as a current student is in your future opportunities for further education and specialization. It ensures that after completing your degree, you’ll have more pathways to specialize or shift direction in your career.
In addition, new profession-oriented master’s programmes will be introduced, allowing you to develop new skills and specialize in your field. After graduation, you might choose to pursue one of these master’s programmes to advance your career.
Summary: The Government has announced a reform of our professional bachelor programs. The reform will not affect your current education at Absalon, but it may provide some new opportunities once you have completed your education.
