Assistant Professor Ulricha Larsen Wins the Teaching Award 2025

Assistant Professor at the Pedagogy Program at University College Absalon, Ulricha Larsen, has been honored with the Teaching Award 2025 – and it is first and foremost thanks to you, the students, who nominated her.

Your words, experiences, and enthusiasm for her teaching are the reason Ulricha Larsen is now recognized as one of the seven most outstanding educators in Denmark this year.

Learning as a Relationship

For Ulricha, learning has never been just about textbooks – it is about people. She meets you where you are and adapts her teaching to your backgrounds and experiences. For many of you, this has meant feeling seen, safe, and motivated in your studies.

Creative Teaching with Head and Hands

Your nominations highlighted how Ulricha makes learning come alive:

  • Building a youth club based on pedagogical theories.

  • Using LEGO to visualize abstract concepts.

  • Creating stop-motion films or picture books about sexuality.

These exercises have invited you to think and create, and to take pride in what you have achieved together.

“It’s About You”

As Ulricha herself puts it:
“What drives me is not just sharing knowledge, but giving my students a professional, relational, and personal foundation. I feel proud when they grow and take ownership of their learning. It matters more that the process is good than that the final product is perfect.”

Recognition of a Learning Community

The award committee especially praised Ulricha’s didactic skills, her creativity, and her practice-oriented approach. She makes complex subjects accessible and relevant through concrete examples, guest speakers, and excursions – such as when she and her students spoke with homeless people in Vesterbro.

That you had the courage to nominate her is clear proof of how much her teaching has meant to you.

From Pedagogue to Award Winner

Ulricha is a trained pedagogue with a Master’s degree in psychology, pedagogy, and educational studies. She worked for seven years as a pedagogue before joining Absalon in 2020, where she now teaches across multiple modules and serves as a practice coordinator.

Thank You, Students

When Ulricha receives the award on Wednesday, September 24, at the Copenhagen Opera House from Minister for Higher Education and Science Christina Egelund, it will also be your victory.

It is your nominations, your voices, and your experiences that have made her this year’s award winner.

In short: without you – no award.
