Last week, three of your lecturers were surprised during class with flowers and congratulations from Rector Camilla Wang. They have been nominated for the 2025 National Teaching Award – and it's all thanks to your nominations!
Imagine sitting in class when suddenly the door opens, and Rector Camilla Wang walks in with flowers and heartfelt praise. That’s exactly the special surprise three lecturers experienced last week!
The lucky – and talented – nominees are Michelle Toftegaard, Morten Nyvang Johansen, and Ulricha Larsen, all of whom have been selected for the National Teaching Award 2025 for higher education. This prestigious award celebrates lecturers across Denmark who excel at engaging, inspiring, and delivering outstanding teaching – and you, the students, played a key role in their nomination.

It’s thanks to you, the students, that these inspiring educators have been recognized. Across all of Absalon, you nominated lecturers who make a real difference in the classroom. From these nominations, Absalon's internal award committee selected three lecturers to advance to the national competition.
Who Are the Three Nominees – and What You Said About Them
Michelle Toftegaard, Lecturer in Nursing:
"Michelle explains even the most complex topics in a way we can understand. She always takes her time and ensures everyone is on board before moving on. Her teaching is lively and relevant, using real-world examples and a great sense of humor."
Morten Nyvang Johansen, Lecturer in Physiotherapy:
"He makes the lessons active and visual. We learn by doing – and he is always ready to listen and engage in professional discussions with us along the way."
Ulricha Larsen, Lecturer in Education:
"Ulricha creates a sense of safety and motivation. She sees us, challenges us, and makes every one of us feel that our contributions matter. A true role model."
What Happens Next?
The three lecturers are now part of the pool of candidates from all university colleges across Denmark. In September 2025, the national winners will be announced. Could one of Absalon's lecturers take home the prize? We’re keeping our fingers crossed!
